Rules & FAQ
1.1 Roleplays
PWE is a roleplay federation, meaning that the winners of the majority of matches are based on the roleplays posted by the competitors. PWE applies to the 1SW (One Shot Wrestling) principle, where matches are decided by one roleplay vs. one roleplay, although any number of character development pieces may be posted at any time. Although PWE would be classed as a pure roleplay federation, stories play a large part in the success of the character, despite not being factored strongly into the match judging. It is the stories that are told with characters that are usually remembered ahead of any roleplay, and it will take a certain ability to carry an angle through segments and on-show interaction to reach the upper echelons of PWE.
- Only one roleplay will count for a match. In tag team matches, it's 2RP's per team.
- Any number of character development roleplays may be posted at any time.
- All match roleplays must be original material.
- Your roleplays reflect life, and life isn't always pretty and polite, but avoid going overboard for shock-value alone.
- PWE is one of the few male-orientated websites what will tell you size doesn't matter.
Guidelines:
- If you write it in a roleplay, it "happened" and everybody else in the fed read it/"saw it." I don't see a point in "this was off-camera, nobody saw it" or "this is just for character development, nobody can comment on it." If nobody sees it, I'm not counting on it. But in general I don't hold to that theory. If you put it in an RP, it's Fair Game to be mentioned, insulted, mocked, et cetera.
- Sure, most of ya'll know that wrestling is a "work," it's a show. But in terms of what you do in RPs, your wrestlers should Always Stay In Character. Don't "break kayfabe." In PWE's reality, WRESTLING IS REAL. No doing "shoot" interviews or talking about the "worked" nature of the business. Injuries are real, hate is real, the wrestlers are in character in anything you will write on the promo boards.
Roleplay Judging:
- Roleplays will be weighted on the values of storytelling, continuity, details, success-in-style (effective drama, comedy, wrestling promo, etc) & spelling/grammar.
- Like most feds, PWE is about quality over quantity. That said, PWE will get very competitive and it may take a long RP to get the victory. All the top guys in PWE will consistently push themselves with top-notch stuff. A great 5K RP will beat a good 10K RP. As said: Quality over quantity, but when the overall quality of RPs is good-great on a regular basis, it can take that extra effort to make the biggest splash.
- PWE does not have a "house style." RP with what brought you to the dance be it trash-talk, screenplay, comedy. The key is: If you're trying for funny, BE FUNNY. If you're trying for serious drama, do it well. Good writing skills will obviously help you, but good writing alone does not win matches. You don't necessarily need to write novels to win. You probably need a bit more than ten lines of content, though.
- If your RPs have NOTHING TO DO WITH WRESTLING you're going to be hard-pressed to do well. Why is your guy here? Why is your guy trying to win matches? The roleplays should drive the show results. When it comes down to it, your character is a pro wrestler! You can do crazy things within that context, you can write the weirdest crap possible, have personal drama, all that jazz, but in the end, your dude is still a pro-wrestler --- even if he is filming the wackiest skits ever. With cross-dressing.
- Do not use any other PWE wrestlers in your promo without first getting permission from that wrestler's handler.
- Management has the final decision for match results. If matches are really close, a couple of trusted PWE members will be asked for votes. Match decisions are rendered from the pool of votes and opinions. If you disagree with your match result, please contact the management calmly via E-Mail, Private Message (PM) or AIM. Seriously, I don't respond to temper tantrums from grown men about FAKE fake wrestling.
No Shows:
- If a wrestler fails to RP for a show, he will not be booked on the next card. If a wrestler fails to RP for two consecutive scheduled matches without communicated reason, he will be removed from the PWE roster. PWE management reserves the right to release wrestlers who only show up with a token RP and are not contributing to the competition and fun. Or are just dickheads who nobody wants to deal with anymore.
1.2 Reputation
PWE rewards hard work, creativity, and ability. If you have a reputation for these, then show it to us... don't expect us to bow down to past achievements. Just as many handlers who came from nowhere have achieved great things in PWE as 'big-name' handlers who came in with a bucket-load of hype.
1.3 Inactivity
A break is only a PM/IM/E-Mail away. If time away is needed, just give staff a heads up, and the character will be removed from shows in whichever way the handler wishes. If a handler vanishes with no notice, his character will simply be left off TV, and provided there is still a good working relationship, the character's spot will be returned to him/her. But, while PWE will try to welcome people back, anyone testing patience by leaving, joining another fed, returning, retiring, un-retiring, leaving, joining another fed, returning etc. in a short period of time will likely find any returns to PWE blocked.
1.4 OOC
The majority of PWE's handlers are at an age, and experience in the hobby, where they no longer have any time for OOC heels, forum trolls, and attention seeking prima-donnas. PWE staff will always put the effort in to help run the promotion for those here to tell a story, enjoy friendly competition, and interact with some of the best writers in the RP circle. What they are not happy to do is take abuse from people partaking in a free hobby, or have to police petty OOC spats. If you insult staff, needlessly/maliciously abuse other members, or in any way bring down PWE's image in the eyes of others, then expect to be looking for a new fed in the very near future.
1.5 Championship Information
PWE currently carries four championships.
PWE Universal Championship: The PWE Universal Championship is the highest goal for any competitor in PWE. Holding the championship means you're the best wrestler in the company, and as far as the company is concerned, the best wrestler in the world at the moment.
PWE Gateway Championship: The PWE Gateway championship is the second highest goal for any competitor in PWE. If you can successfully defend this title four times you earn a shot at the Universal Championship.
PWE Vicious Championship: Only for the tough and extreme.
PWE SIN Championships: The PWE SIN Championships mean you're the best group of wrestlers in the country at any given time. SIN stands for Stength in Numbers and with these titles the strength is within numbers. Unlike most "tag" divisions, this division is sought out by tag teams and stables alike. Any stable holding these titles can choose any of their two stablemates to defend or compete for these titles, and the titles are considered held by all members of the stable. In this division the more friends you have, the better.
Administration
"The Legacy" Christian Connolly
Owner of PWE
In PWE, Christian Connolly wears
the pants. A multi-time World Champion in
CWF and the XWF, Christian Connolly has reached the
top of the mountain many times before, but
has now taken the next step - promoting. Connolly
is PWE's supreme authority, and though he
doesn't officially wrestle, he's not averse
to laying down the law the hard way when he
has to.
On-Air Personalities
Ken Stevenson
Play-By-Play Commentator
Contracted as a play-by-play man, he goes about his job description right down to the smallest of small print. Seeing things in un-blurred black and white, he knows those who step into the ring wanting to win by being the better wrestler from those who go into matches determined to win by whatever means. He's a wrestling historian, and can quickly call to mind the kind of minutia that adds flavor to any match.
Chris Carter
Color Commentator
To Chris, the aim of a wrestling match is winning, so those doing everything possible to get the ‘W’ will earn (the closest he has to) respect. Unashamedly partisan, he'll find loophole after loophole to justify the actions of ‘his’ wrestlers. These will include any ancient by-laws of the state the show takes place in, and claiming that the camera being at just the wrong angle could make something seem illegal to those at home. Quick-tongued, those trying to argue with him will barely be able to get a word in. He comes from a background in sports journalism, from which he was fired for being overly cynical and suggesting that ‘following the rules like a bunch of Special Olympics it’s-the-taking-part-that-counts sissies’ was the downfall of teams. He appreciates the athleticism and technical nature of the sport. He’ll heap praise on a tactical armbar that the fans punish with ‘Boring!’ chants before raising so much as an eyebrow to multiple rotations and daredevil leaps with no purpose.
Amerie Rodriguez
Amerie Rodriguez is an aspiring model. She is only 21 but has done promo material for Estee Lauder and The GAP. This fiery red head was born just outside of San Diego, California but now calls Detroit, Michigan home. She grew up watching wrestling, unlike most of the girls. She became an all out fan at 16 and has now attained one of her goals. She will be on LIVE TV.
Bob Catholic
The senior member of the team, Bob's been around wrestling longer than any other current interviewer, barring his year-long absence after a suspension. At 34, he's interviewed all types, and he's been put down and belittled by all types, so he has cause to be jaded. You wouldn't know it from seeing him at shows, though; after being brought back, he's dialing up the enthusiasm and turning the other cheek when wrestlers choose to take their frustrations out on him verbally. He's a deeply unhappy man, but when he's onscreen, we're talking Todd Pettingill levels of cheeriness.
